Velellas and the dot-comers are back in Santa Cruz

Oddly, the last time these surface velella marine  creatures washed up on shore in Santa Cruz was during the first dot.com boom in the ’90s, which I described in my Pen-award winning novel Surf. com. I made an analogy between this boom-and-bust species app-earance and the dot.com culture of SIlicon Valley destroying the Santa Cruz beach culture.
