Where is the core of the Light?

January 7, 2012

It’s not in faith.
It’s not in fear.
It’s the spark that lights up your smile and puts a bounce in your dance.
It’s a spirit that can’t be tamped out–it’s fire only spreads.
It’s what cried when the doctor smacked your ass.
It’s what prevents the darkness from pinning down your other shoulder.
It’s when you’re anger is sparked and you say to someone, “Excuse you.”
It’s what glistens the love in someone else’s eyes.
It’s what humbles and strengthens you.
The only people who want to escape themselves are imprisoned by someone else.
All the walls fall down.
The dust clears.
And you run into the dawn.
The night and shadows snapping at your heels.
